Financial Assistance

Limited financial assistance may be available for those students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need and, as the circumstances may require ensuring gender balance and balance of regional representation.

All applicants regardless of their nationality are eligible. In order to apply for financial assistance, this process must be followed:

  1. When filling out the on-line Application Form, in question number 26, mark UPEACE Financial Assistance as your option.
  2. You will receive an e-mail message of acknowledgement from the Department of Academic Administration with a link that will give you access to the Financial Assistance Application Form (FAAF).
  3. Fill out and submit to UPEACE the Financial Assistance Application Form.
  4. Submit all the necessary supporting documents to the University for Peace before the established deadline. Application instructions are available on: http://www.upeace.org/admissions/general.cfm. Incomplete application packages will not be processed.

The FAAF will provide the UPEACE General Admission Committee (GAC), the criteria to carefully assess the applicants’ financial situation. If the GAC finds that the student is eligible for UPEACE Financial Assistance and if funds are available, he or she will be granted financial assistance. Decisions will be informed with the letter of admission on the first week of April.

All financial assistance is based on the assumption that students will contribute a reasonable amount to meet educational expenses. All financial assistance is based on the assumption that students will contribute a reasonable amount to meet educational expenses.

Financial Assistance recipients must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

Types of Financial Assistance:

  1. Full: will cover full tuition and a monthly stipend for living expenses
  2. Partial: only contemplates tuition in a variety of waivers:
    1. Full waiver
    2. 75% waiver
    3. 50% waiver
    4. 25% waiver

Important considerations:

  • The deadline to apply for financial assistance is 28 February. Applications received after this date will not be contemplated.
  • Travel expenses, books and readers are not contemplated as part of financial assistance.
  • Decisions will be notified on the first week of April, with the admission letter.
  • Full financial assistance recipients must be prepared to cover the first month of rent in Costa Rica, since the first monthly stipend will be deposited until the first week of September.
  • Your Financial Assistance Application should be accurate, not omit any facts that are relevant and not be misleading. If we find that there were significant errors or omissions in the information you have supplied to us in the course of your application, you will not be offered financial assistance or you will have your financial assistance withdrawn or terminated.
